Latest Happenings

The committee members met up last week to plan for the camp which is happening in 2 weeks time and also discuss on other administrative matters. We even did spring cleaning for the club room (which is located at block 18, level 4).

We will be decorating the club room to make it look extremely attractive, nice, and cozy real soon. Photos will be uploaded once it is done!

Updates on Graduations Camp!

Date: 25th Feb - 27th Feb 2012

1. Indemnity Form

In order to stay overnight in campus, we will only require CURRENT MEMBERS to download the form, print it out and fill it up! Pass to any of the committee members ASAP so that we can grant the permission.

Where to download the form?

Step 1: Go to www.npweb.np.edu.sg/dept/sdar

Step 2: Log on with your student no. and password.

Step 3: Click on documents>Loft @ 94 Forms

Step 4: Select the "Indemnity and Permission to Stay Overnight on Campus Form" file and download it. It is in pdf format.

PS: Failure to submit the indemnity form means you are NOT able to stay overnight in the loft! So, do not forget!!!

2. We are sorry to tell you that ALUMNI MEMBERS are NOT allowed to stay for this camp. But we promise that the night programmes will end by 10-11 plus (for the first night only) so that those who don't drive can still catch the last bus home!

We will also require each and every alumni members that are turning up to prepare some form of performance to show case on the last night! There is no theme for the performance, so you can actually do whatever you want, or maybe do impromptu stuff.

3. Packing List

This will be the packing list for the camp, the quantity per item is depending on individuals, as long as you bring sufficient, it is good enough!

4. For alumni members that will not be able to turn up for all 3 days, do not worry! We will be having a PAST VS PRESENT friendly match between the current members and alumni! So do turn up!!! :D

Latest Happening: We booked the kinect room at studio 27 last week for some bonding session, and here are some pictures of it!

After playing, we gave Nazri (our president of 2011/2012) a mini birthday celebration!J

Hi Everyone!

This is Gina, the new PR of the Hockey Committee 2012/13, and I will be in charge of our blog and twitter accounts, giving you constant updates on what will be going on. :)

Firstly, I want to congratulate and welcome the 2012/13 committee! \m/

A lot has been planned for our team this year. ;) Do look forward to a great year as the committee members will be working closely together to organise more programmes for everyone. Have a look at our events list to get a rough idea on what's in store for us. Most of them are practically tentative. We'll confirm and update the details closer to each event. We hope for the best in making every possible event a success! :)

Girls Team; Training has come to a halt as of 18 January due to CHINESE NEW YEAR and preparations for FINAL YEAR EXAMS. However, we might be planning training soon in preparation for the Past VS Present match which will take place next month during the Grad Camp!

Boys Team; As most of our boys are playing for different U21 leagues, we'd like to wish them good luck in their upcoming games. For those wanting to catch their games, do check the SHF website for details on their matches. :)

Graduation Camp - Details will be posted up very soon.

HI TEAM

Today marks the end of POL-ITE 2011. This year may not be our year but I hope you don't give up yet. Losing is unfortunately the part and parcel of a competition. Having said that, I'm sure we've all gained something else in return. We've gained experience, learnt a few new skills, forged friendships with our teammates and whatever mistakes that we made, let's learn from it. Dwelling on the past doesn't help so let's move on and prepare for a better season next year shall we?

I've said this to the girls and I'm going to say it again for the boys. Remember that whatever happens on the pitch, stays on the pitch. If anyone is upset that someone has been screaming like a mad person at him/her, please, let it go. Bearing grudges will not get our team anywhere. Besides, the screaming are all in that moment of time only. And remember that your team is only as strong as your weakest player. So if you know that you're lacking in any area, be it fitness or skills, do train up. Hockey is a team sport, we need everyone to play an equal role in the game, put in equal amount of effort, equal amount of commitment and focus.

Speaking of which, training will still be on next week. Same time, same place. Wednesday 530pm, Saturday 10am. We're not going to take a break so please be there at Kismis.

On behalf of all the graduating seniors, thank you for the cake and the farewell-ish thing that you guys organized. We will miss you guys!!! But, this is not the end. We will be having our Annual General Meeting (AGM), where the senior committee members will step down and we will introduce the new committee, in December. ALL ARE REQUIRED TO ATTEND.

Whatever else that we need to say will be said during AGM so for now, rest well and keep the Ngee Ann fighting spirit strong!

Hey guys! I hope this post would give you a clear picture on how to get to NIE Hockey's Pitch.

(P.S.: If you're driving, please have a cashcard with you!!)

You can board 199 from Boon Lay Interchange and it'll stop nearer to the hockey pitch.

Estimated journey time; 35 minutes and it's around 11/12 bus stops .

Once you see this on your left, press the bell and alight the bus.

Alight here! Once you alight, turn to your right and walk straight.

& you'll see this slope on your left. Walk up the slope...

& you'll walk pass a street soccer court (eeerrr... I think it is a street soccer court. HAHA!) on your right and you'll see stairs after that. Take the stairs and...

YOU'VE REACHED!

Alternatively, you can board 179 from Boon Lay Interchange. The frequency is faster and journey is shorter than 199 but you need to walk a lil' bit more.

Once you see this sign on your right, press the bell and alight.

Alight here! You should see an overhead bridge aka LOVE BRIDGE.

The bus stop's name is 'Lee Wee Nam Library'.

Once you alight, turn to your right. Walk straight, down the slope and you'll see a zebra crossing on your right.

Cross the zebra crossing and walk straight.

Once you see this, turn left.

You'll see the cashcard top-up station. Go up the stairs to level one.

Walk all the way straight till the end of the building and then, turn left.

You'll see a building called 'UID'. Take the walkway that's nearer to UID (as seen in the picture) and walk all the way to the other end.

You'll reach Block 5. You'll see the lift, and that small sign that says "Block 5". Go down the stairs and....

& you've reached!!

Oh yes! In case you wanna eat or grab something before/after the friendly match, go up the Love Bridge, turn left, walk straight and you'll see McDonalds. There's Subway, Canadian Pizza and Old Chang Kee. If you go one level up, you'll find the food court. & if you're "adventurous" enough, find the Student Activities Centre, and you'll find Starbucks! Don't bother finding NIE's canteen 'cause the food there sucks.

Hi Team,

Hope you guys are resting well after the camp! Training will resume on Wesnesday for school training at Kismis Field. We only have got 5 more school trainings and 9 more pitch trainings before the big day, so do try your best to come down for all or at least twice a week to improve on your stickwork and basics.

Dear Girls,

We have discussed to have gym trainings together on Tuesdays to improve on our fitness/stamina, so the dates are 20 & 29 sept, 4, 11 & 18 oct, 4-7pm. So i'll see you girls next tuesday @ NP's gym! I know it's clear that we lack the skills but all of us should at least be confident in our speed and the basics of stopping and passing! :)

Here's something to motivate you: SRC 4's Champion 2010 (Girls) and 3rd place (Boys)

HI TEAM

As you all know, SRC 4-a-side tournament is this coming Saturday, 11 June 2011. Please meet at City Hall MRT Station at 730am. Bring your indemnity form, stick, shin guard and black long socks. We will provide you with the jersey. Also, please ensure that you have sufficient supply of water.

Those who haven't gotten the indemnity form, please download it here, print it, fill it up and bring it on Saturday itself. Those of you with no sticks, please let me know so that we can loan a stick to you. I will pass you the stick by Thursday.

Please note that indemnity form and shin guard are very important, if you don't have them, you will not be allowed to play.

The 3rd Boy's Under-18 Asia Cup will be held in Singapore from 17-26 June 2011. Attached is the schedule for the entire tournament. Please take a look at it and let me know if you are interested to watch any of the matches. Tickets are priced at $7.50 for an entire day's worth of matches. Click here to get a better view of the schedule.

Having said that, Nazri and I would like all of you to attend the Singapore-Pakistan match on 22 June, 7pm. So there will be no training. All of you are to gather and be Sengkang MRT Station by 615pm. However, you are more than welcome to catch the earlier matches (i.e. Brunei vs Chinese-Taipei and Korea vs China).

This will also be a good opportunity for you to catch our homeboy Samudra Ong in action! (;

Please text me RIGHT NOW to let me know if you're able or unable to make it for the match. If you're unable to, please let me know why.

Welcome to the new semester. Hope all of you have had a good rest during your break! It has been months since POL-ITE 2010 ended and I haven't updated the blog because..... well, I've been busy hehe sorry.

First things first. I would like to present to you the new 2011 committee. Do not hesitate to call/text any of us if you need to. This committee was decided last year but I never had the time to update you guys, again, I'm sorry.

And anyway, now that we have a Public Relations "department", our dearest Sabrina will be doing most of the updates for this blog. I'd still drop by occasionally to share some motivational quotes or when the president and vice-presidents decide that they have some serious issue that they need to address. Other than that, this blog is Sab's to keep alive. (:

New committee aside, a lot has been planned for our team this year. Like what Ms June said, "It's a big year for hockey". Nothing is confirmed yet but when it is, we'll update you guys. (;

Hey guys!

Yesterday night marked the end of our boys' Division 3. Though the results are not really something that everyone can smile about, I've to applaud the boys for playing all the matches against the established clubs. Brave souls, you are. I hope the results will not demoralize you to play in the next year's league. Remember, you guys are really new players! So, I (really, really,really) wish to see most of you back in the following Division 3, stronger and better! (:

From this league, you guys have blossom. In 3 ways, that is.

Skills: Of course, we don't expect you to become a pro hockey player by the end of this league! But in terms of skills, you guys have improved and have become a better player along the way.
Character wise: Ahh.. Though there's tension along the way, I'm sure you learnt something in the game and build up your character in a positive light. Kapish?
Team: I've to admit we need to improve more on the team's chemistry, but well.. Somehow, you guys do blossom as a team. From the first game till the last, you did improved in team dynamics! Really.

Sooo.. Hope you guys learnt at least a thing or two from this year's league and push you on to become a better player and play better as a team. So, you know what this means? TRAININGS ARE IMPORTANT. Team chemistry is something that we cannot develop overnight. Thus, trainings with or without coach, are important. & when POL-ITE's over, I hope you guys (including the girls) will still come for trainings and use that time to improve yourselves.

Also, a very important thing to note is that hockey is a team sport. Sure, we can have a few good players but that alone is not enough. We all need each other's support. Hence, your commitment is very very very important. There's only so much that Nazri and I can do. At the end of the day, whether you turn up for training or not, whether you turn up on game day itself or not, it really is up to you. Think about the people you'll be letting down. If you have classes, we gave you excuse letters to excuse yourselves from class. If you have attachment or internship, and your boss or supervisor doesn't allow you to leave, then there's nothing we can do about it. If you have work, please make the necessary arrangements. This is not a friendly match or Div 3. This is POL-ITE. Our one and only tournament.

If you're not going to turn up, can you at least be a responsible team player and inform us beforehand? Don't let us find out half an hour before we board the bus and leave the school. That's just not cool okay?

We really need your commitment. It's just for another two games, one on Tuesday, one on Friday. After that, we'll go for a break and you can take a break from hockey. Just two more games okay?

Anyway, training on Monday, 18 October 2010, 7-9 PM at Delta. Come in your white top.

Please try to be there as it'll be the last training before our first game on Thursday, 21 October 2010.

We will be passing out your jersey, shorts/skirt, socks and excuse letter on the 21st itself. So on Thursday, gather at the atrium at 3 PM. If under any circumstances that you cannot be there by 3 PM, do let Nazri or myself know so that we can make other arrangements like asking the bus driver to wait if necessary.

Also, due to unforeseen circumstances, we are still unable to announce the boys team. Coach needs a little more time to think through his choices. The team will be announced on Monday, latest (hopefully).

To the Div 3 boys, I know you've all been playing hard so rest well and take care of yourselves. The pictures are all up on our photo page.

So as promised, I'm here to update you on our POL-ITE fixtures.

There will be a bus to transport us to NYP for all our matches. However it is a one-way trip. Do make your own arrangements for your trip home. Okay, more on the bus next week. I'll let you know what time to gather and all.

Another important announcement is... the jackets. As you all know, those representing the school (Div 3 boys included) will receive the school/team jacket. However, SDAR is having this major shift from their old block to the new one so things are rather messy on their side. As such, you will only receive your jacket next month. Sorry!

That aside, tmr we will be having a friendly match with NYP. It is important that you attend the friendly so that you get a feel of NYP's standard as we will be playing against them in our first match. So see you at NYP's pitch at 530 PM in your blue top. The girls will be having their friendly at 630 PM and the boys will have their friendly at 730 PM. Nonetheless, gather at NYP's pitch at 530 PM so that we can start training at 6 PM as instructed by Coach.

Boys, note that it is very very very important for all of you to turn up tmr as we will be announcing the team. Bring along $50 so that you can make immediate payment for your jersey if you make it to the team. Thanks!

2. PAYMENT FOR POL-ITE JERSEY 2010

BOYS, the new ones & those who didn't play for POL-ITE last year, please pay $50.

Those who played for POL-ITE last year, you only need to pay $30.

GIRLS, the new ones & those who didn't play for POL-ITE last year, you will need to pay $50.

Those who played for POL-ITE last year and are still getting skirts, please pay $30.

Those who played for POL-ITE last year and are not getting skirts, please pay $25.

Those of you who still haven't made payment (and hence hasn't gotten your training tee) please pay up ASAP. You will only get your tees once you've made the payment.

Let me know if you're going to make your payment so that I can go down to school to take your tees for you.

7. POL-ITE IS NEXT WEEK!!!

Okay I cannot emphasize this further.

Try not to miss any training sessions or friendly matches as this will help in our team dynamic and will also prep us for the upcoming POL-ITE matches. You will all receive excuse letter to excuse yourselves from classes, work, attachment etc so I hope all of you will turn up for all our matches.

Anyway, I hope you guys are prepared both mentally and physically. I know we've all been training hard but do take care of yourselves. PITCH TRAINING AT CCAB AT 730PM! Be there on time, ready for warm-up! There should be no excuses on why you don't have shin guards! Oh yes, wear your blue training tee.

How to get there:

Take 154 from Ngee Ann Polytechnic towards KAP.
Alight 13 stops later alight at B41019/When you see SPC.
Cross the traffic light and you'll see running track.
Walk straight and you should be there!

Well, this is only ONE option. Those staying near CCK, you can take 67. Do google on how to get there if you still don't know how to. It's around 5 minutes walk from the bus stop. & yeap! It's near Jacob's Garden!

Make it a point to leave your home early if you know you're going to get lost or whatsoever. (:

On a much disappointing note, we have a piece of bad news.

The camp which was scheduled to take place from 1-3 October has been pushed back to December due to unavailability of loft.

Our Div3 boys lost 7-0 to JFA. It was a really tough game, the team we played against was really strong. Have a good rest to all those who played hard in the game. Good job! We can do better next time!

Our next training will be on Monday, 20 Sept, 5pm to 830pm. Please do not be late. Be in your proper attire by 5pm at Kismis field. Hello everyone!

SDAR is willing to sponsor us tickets to watch a game of hockey in the Youth Olympic Games. We can decide which match we want to watch. So far, we have decided to watch the game between Singapore and Australia. It will be on the 17th August 2010, 830pm at Seng Kang Stadium. Those who are keen to watch the match please inform me by Saturday as we have to confirm the number of people going. Its a once in a lifetime opportunity so we hope that everyone can make it!

Also, there will be training this Saturday. 10pm at kismis field. For girls, please wear a white top and for guys, please wear a red top. Please bring along your shin guards.
